Gathering of new immigrants - April 14

Datum

Since last year, Montreal like other big cities in Canada, welcomed a large number of new immigrants. When they arrive in Canada, they face various needs like housing, administrative and immigration procedures, financial means, employment, language, accurate information, guidance, initial orientation, cultural integration, emotional and social support, health, etc.

In Montreal, IofC is supporting new immigrants in different ways to address some of their needs for a better settlement and integration. For the last few months, we have supported and accompanied twenty new immigrants. My wife Florence and I had the joy of welcoming some of them into our home on Sunday April 14.

We have been accompanying individually these new immigrants, and this gathering was a good opportunity for them to know each other, connect and share their experience. They were very grateful for this gathering that offered them a chance to connect with others who are in the same situation.

This gave them hope and encouraged the new immigrants to continuer addressing the settlement issues that they are facing. They agreed to meet every month and expressed the need to connect with people from the community.
